Friday Confession: Late Sleeper

You’ll never find that line in my bio "she was born with a pen in her hand" or "she has been writing for as long as she can remember." I didn’t write a poem until I was 38 or 39 years old. I was born with a pen in the back of the bottom drawer of my desk.

My bio should say something like "When she began writing it was about 7 o'clock in the evening."

Well, at least you'll deserve a bio and it will mention your writings. That's something, right?

It's good to hear this, sometimes I get a bit scunnered reading about all those poets who brought out their first collection when they were 19!

beau - right. what is it with all the autobiographies of people who aren't yet 40?

sorlil - sometimes we wait too long, and sometimes we don't wait long enough.

My bio should be "She started writing when she was 15 and ever since, has felt like her poetry career should have progressed more."

Yeah, those guys who began writing at birth - you'd think with all that practice....
